This school was also known as the “Peanut School.” It was at the top of the brick hill (old 51/Church Street). Note that there were 66 students (38 boys, 28 girls) and one teacher. This was a one-room schoolhouse, with all ages mixed. How did they manage to learn?! Perhaps it had to do with the eduction of obedience.
