I was just referred to the Perryopolis web site by a genealogy contact. I'm a descendant of Isaac/Henry and Malinda Ansel who lived in Perryopolis in the 1850s and am hoping to find a source in Perryopolis of old community records that might lead me to more information about them and their 2 children. This is a fabulous web site. The pictures and information about the community are exciting for me to see. Just wanted to say thanks for the great web site and also to say if anyone out there might have some suggestions for me, I'd love to hear from there. Looks to me like you have a beautiful home town.

Mom and I visited Perryopolis this summer while working on our family history. We met some wonderful folks. Loved the grist mill. I'm a descendant of William Strawn born 1816 in Perryopolis. Looking to exchange information on the Strawn, Bowers or McCaulley family. Leah Evans went out of her way to show us around and share what she had on the Strawns. Thank you Leah!!

I grew up in Dawson. Not that far away. I now live right up by Virgin Run. I'm in Perryopolis all the time and I never knew all of the heritage it holds. Until I married my husband Dave Carson and moved in with his mother Izetta or as some people may know her Kit. It is so great to know all this information.

I grew up in Star Junction, where our home was at Turkey Knob House #153. I essentially left Star Junction in 1944 when I entered the Naval Reserve and college. Lulu grew up in Layton, where their home was the General Refactories house on the hill above Wilson Row. Her father, R.A. Miller, was the superintendent of the General Refactories Plant and it's predecessor Kier Brick Yard. Her childhood memories include jumping off the the 'Swinging Bridge', ice skating on the Slough and sled riding down Layton Hill. In 1952; we moved from Layton to the Borough of Whitehall, where we currently reside. Incidentally; we learned of the site from our daughter-in-law, who lives in Franklin,TN. She found it accidentally while surfing the net. Its a great site which you, Perryopolis and Perry Township, can be justly proud of. Is there any possibility of having it added to the Post-Gazette's 'Communities' links?

Very nice site, set up in an easy to use format. I'm not a "native" but have lived here for 18 years, and I am still learning new things. I hope you will be including some of the little known historical facts ie area homes that were part of the underground railroad, prominante citizens of days gone by etc. I'm here at Carol Hamilla's recommendation and will refer others to your site.

Pleased to see a site already set up for local use. The possibilities and implications for its use presents the concept of the "High Tech, High Touch" needed for the future. I hope more people become involved and express their views as to local activities and happenings. I must say that I agree with many of the people who already have contacted your site in relation to Perryopolis being one of the best places to live. We truly have a community to be proud of.

Great site. Perryopolis is the best to live. The best thing about Perryopolis is the wonderful people and of course the George Washington's Grist Mill. We always have Pioneer Days in Oct. come join us for some fun.
