The 2004 Summer Reading Program for Children
This year the Frazier Community Library offered the book Misty of Chincoteague as our Summer Reading Program. Children were invited to travel to the islands of Assateague and Chincoteague to meet the wild ponies that call those islands home. Some of the activities offered included soap-making, decorating trinket boxes and painting ceramic ponies. Excerpts of the book were read each week and at the end of the program each child was awarded the book, Stormy, Misty's Foal. Of course, a highlight of the program was fishing for lunch. Each child found this activity to be a favorite.
The Frazier Community Library continues to promote the love of reading in children of all ages.
