Spring, 2007: Ruthie says
“This falls under the category of fairy tale. Northern fairy
tales begin with ‘Once upon a time.’ Southern fairy
tales begin with,
‘You ain’t gonna believe this!’ This is a Southern fairy
tale.
“For the past week or so, I have started up the truck, driven
a few 10ths of a mile and seen a bird fly away from the truck -
seemingly out of nowhere. This happened before - maybe 2000 - and
I thought - no, it could’t be - not again!
“When I got to my destination, I opened the truck hood and
what did I find - the same thing I found back in 2000 - only on
the other side of the motor.
“So I removed the nest, placed it on a wooden box near the
truck and I can only hope the mother finds her family - if the
engine heat hasn’t cooked the eggs! |
