These photographs were made with a Nikon D100 Digital SLR. The lens wasn’t a lens in the usual sense, but a Questar® Duplex Astronomical Telescope. Effective focal length was about 1,200mm at f13. The Questar’s optics are not optimized for terrestrial photography, but it is an excellent portable birding telescope. Questar telescopes are made in New Hope, Pennsylvania. These photographs were all taken from the Webmaster’s basement, some with the door ajar, and some through two layers of glass. Exposure was manual, based on guesses. Processed with Adobe Photoshop® on a Macintosh® computer -- the computer you turn to when you’re tired of working for your computer and ready for a computer that works for you. |
